Slot Overview: Eastern Emeralds Megaways

Please keep in mind that the game is still under development since this review is based on the early access version of Eastern Emeralds Megaways. Once we get access to Eastern Emeralds Megaways in its final form, we will return.

Quickspin, makers of popular casino games like Big Bad Wolf and Big Bad Wolf Megaways, are certainly onto something with their successful reimagining of the latter. The company is going back to its 2018 product, Eastern Emeralds, a slot machine with an Asian theme that is most known for its massive maximum multiplier wild combos. You can rest confident that these, along with the four-choice free spins round, a new gamble feature, and a bonus purchase button, are all back for the Megaways version.

While the graphics have been updated, the gameplay environment remains unchanged. The scene takes place in the foggy mountains, with historic buildings in the background and dense woods in the foreground adorned with hanging lanterns. The game’s grid is significantly larger and operates quite differently than before thanks to the switch to Megaways, and this is the biggest visual change. This time around, the action occurs on a 5-reel screen, where anything from 2 to 7 symbols might appear on any one reel. With this setup, the number of possible winning combinations every spin can range from 32 to 16,807.

Players may take a trip back to Asia on any device and wager anywhere from 20 pence to £/€100 every spin. Although players may affect volatility to some extent by selecting their preferred free spins round, Eastern Emeralds Megaways is still an extremely unpredictable slot machine. When using the game’s usual gameplay mode, Eastern Emeralds Megaways offers a standard RTP of 96.04%.

Values, but not forms, have remained constant in the realm of symbols. Five of a kind of the low cards (10-A) pays 0.25-0.75 times the wager, while five of a kind of the medium cards (coins, sycees, turtles, fish, and dragons) pays 0.9-3 times the wager. The green and gold wild symbols may be found on reels 2-5. When they appear, wilds can double the payout of any ordinary pay symbol. The multiplier in the base game is always the same as the reel value. Therefore, wilds on reel 2 are worth x2, wilds on reel 4 are worth x4, and so on. If a victory involves several wilds, the values of all the wilds involved are multiplied together.

Features of the Slot Machine, Eastern Emeralds Megaways

The phoenix-adorned scatter is the game’s other major icon outside of the wild. Free games are triggered by landing at least three scatter symbols anywhere on the reels during the main game. However, before the feature is played, players who have gotten 3 or 4 scatters can choose to wager their winnings. The odds of progressing to the next level in a gambling game are exactly equal. If you lose the bet, you will not get any further spins. Betting is purely elective.

After a player collects or leaves the gamble portion, a picker menu appears, from which they may choose one of four additional features:

Option 1: 15, 30, or 60 free spins with a 2, 3, 4, or 5x multiplier on wilds (adding up to a maximum of x120) when 3, 4, or 5 scatters are triggered.

Option 2: 12, 24, or 48 free spins with a 3, 4, 5, or 6x multiplier wild (adding up to x360) when 3, 4, or 5 scatters are triggered.

Choose Option 3 for 4, 5, 6, or 7x multiplier wilds (up to a total of x840) and 9, 18, or 36 free games when 3, 4, or 5 scatters appear.

Choose Option 4 for 5, 6, 7, or 8x multiplier wilds (up to a total of 1,680x) and 6, 12, or 24 free games when 3, 4, or 5 scatters appear.

The more the volatility and possible multipliers, the fewer free spins there are. During the bonus round, there are no Scatters on the reels, so you can’t win more free games by getting more. Finally, if available, players can pay 90 times their initial wager to skip straight to the bonus round. After making a purchase, a player has the option to either spin the wheel and risk their winnings or go on to the picker immediately.

Slots’ Final Say on the Eastern Emeralds Megaways

After the huge success of Big Bad Wolf Megaways, it was no big surprise to see Quickspin revisit one of their most popular slots and give it the Megaways treatment. The transition to Megaways in Eastern Emeralds isn’t as exciting as the one in Wolf and Piggy. One major reason is because there isn’t anything novel happening that wasn’t already available. Even though there are more symbols on the grid and more opportunities to win, this adaptation doesn’t feel as enjoyable to the studio as Big Bad Wolf Megaways.

Still, one can’t say for sure. Perhaps Eastern Emeralds Megaways was more rewarding to develop internally, but testers didn’t feel the same way. We don’t mean any disrespect to Eastern Emeralds Megaways, we promise! It has a more polished appearance than the original, making it simpler to immerse oneself in the game’s unique environment. Gameplay-wise, there’s a lot of room for improvement. There are plenty of chances for something extraordinary to happen thanks to the combination of multiplier wilds, which are the main attraction just as in the original game, and a ways system, which replaces paylines. Although the maximum victory count wasn’t known at the time of writing, it seems likely that it will be as high as it was in the original.

When you put it all together, you have a fully operational Asian-themed Megaways slot with some tasty multiplier wilds boosting each other’s possibilities. The transition from a standard game grid to one driven by Megaways was expertly executed, and the two systems now work together flawlessly. Fans of the original should enjoy Eastern Emeralds Megaways just as much as the remake, but they shouldn’t expect a revolution.
